Now is the best time to join Johnstone Supply. The Operational Process Manager plays a key role in supporting both sales and operations across assigned branch locations and companywide initiatives. This position ensures operational efficiency and consistency by developing, implementing, and maintaining standardized processes for showroom and warehouse functions. The role involves training and supporting teams in best practices related to inside sales and warehouse operations. Reporting to the Director of Operations and working closely with Regional Managers, this role helps drive the company’s value proposition by enabling operational excellence. The Operational Process Manager partners with Regional, Branch, and Warehouse Managers to deliver exceptional customer experience through effective process execution, hands-on training, and continuous operational support. - Leads companywide warehouse and showroom processes and systems in assigned region and companywide as needed.
- Initiates, identifies, recommends, documents, trains, and implements standard operating procedures related to smooth and consistent operations to ensure a positive customer experience. Implements improved process initiatives through communication, training, and oversight.
- Analyzes, assesses, and reports on existing operations and proposes strategies and best practices to improve processes and procedures related to sales and operational procedures. Works in collaboration with other departments and branch personnel to devise consistent practices that build a cohesive approach to delivering a superior customer experience and achieving financial goals.
- Actively participates in onboarding new employees for assigned areas and as assigned companywide. Includes training, supporting, and following up with new employees and also the designated regional Lead personnel.
- Delivers consistent, ongoing training for existing employees that ensures processes are properly executed companywide. Develops materials and methods used to provide related training and reference.
- Acts as part of acquisition and transition team for new properties. Ensures effective transition of new locations and acclimation of acquired personnel.
- Acts as point of contact for continuous and consistent improvement and process expertise for inside sales, warehouse, and customer support positions. Provides onsite and remote assistance for branches as needed to ensure appropriate support of sales and operations. Monitors and audits processes for assigned branches; proactively identifies gaps and risks, addresses issues, and trains based on identified needs.
- Utilizes and maintains expertise in the ERP system and other Ware Group technology in order to develop, implement, support, improve, and train on inside sales and warehouse processes.
- Performs research, establishes benchmarks, analyzes data, and writes reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position requirements:
- High School or general education degree (G.E.D.) required. Four-year degree in business administration, management, logistics or marketing preferred.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in inside sales, management, or warehouse and logistics management. Two of these five with Johnstone Supply-The Ware Group preferred.
- Up to 75% travel expected, including both air and ground transportation, within assigned regions and across company locations at a multistate level.
- A solid understanding of branch operations and methodologies is very important with a strong work history in managing all aspects of wholesale distribution.
- Knowledge of inside sales and customer support processes such as sales order entry, pricing, warranty, and delivery.
- Knowledge of financial operations including costs of operation, return on investment, and budgets.
- Project management skills including establishing objectives, timelines, and deadlines; action planning to meet deadlines; evaluating current and future positions.
- Problem solving skills with ability to actively listen, interpret and meeting the needs of others, and diagnosing and rectifying problems.
- Ability to develop efficient work procedures, support, train to, and implement operating procedures.
- Ability to train employees across varying skill levels. Excellent teaching skills with ability to identify needs, impart knowledge, determine follow up needs, and ensure learning and development. Ability to train employees across varying skill levels.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate positive work behaviors of warehouse and store personnel.
- Solid interpersonal skills with ability to communicate proficiently in English in both written and verbal formats.
- Proficient in Company-utilized software platforms including but not limited to Epicor/Eclipse and Microsoft suite of products. Experience with RF technology and knowledge of Eclipse ERP preferred.
